Join Us
We are excited to welcome motivated students and postdocs to join our lab! Here are the steps to get started, depending on the program you are interested in.
Our research is interdisciplinary, spanning hardware, algorithms, and real-world systems. We welcome applicants from CS, ESE, and related fields. Experience in any of the following areas (or closely related ones) is a plus: wireless communications, signal processing, machine learning, computer vision, robotics, RF and antennas, acoustics and audio, and embedded systems.
PhD applicants. Please apply directly to the CIS or ESE department through the online application portal. In the portal, as well as your Statement of Purpose (SOP), be sure to mention Prof. Mingmin Zhao and express your specific research interests and how they align with our lab's work. This will ensure that your application is reviewed with your interests in mind.
Postdoctoral researchers. Please email Prof. Mingmin Zhao with your CV, research statement, and representative publications. We welcome candidates with backgrounds in wireless systems, signal processing, machine learning, or related areas.
Master and undergraduate students. If you are a student at Penn, please send an email to Prof. Mingmin Zhao. Include your CV and a brief description of your research interests and any relevant experience. This will help us understand your background and how you might contribute to our ongoing projects. We require a minimum of 10 hours dedicated to research per week.
Visiting students and summer interns. We host a small number of visiting students and summer interns each year. Please email Prof. Mingmin Zhao well in advance with your CV, transcript, intended dates, and a short description of the problems you want to work on. Preference goes to candidates whose interests align closely with our ongoing projects.
